Pyro-Science's compact Firesting O2 is a high precision, PC-controlled (USB) fiber-optic oxygen meter available with 1, 2 or 4 channels for fiber-optic oxygen sensors from Pyro Science. The Firesting O2 unifies several innovative technological improvements, making it the new standard of high precision oxygen sensing. It is the only available oxygen meter that is compatible with fiber-optic oxygen microsensors as well as minisensors (tip diameters available from 30 m to 2.5 mm). In combination with a sensor spot adapter the fiber-optic oxygen meter Firesting O2 can be used with diverse contactless sensors like sensor spots, sensor cuvettes, or flow-through-cells. Further, the Firesting O2 can be combined with fiber-optic oxygen sensors for different concentration ranges, i.e. full range and trace range (the trace range sensors will be available soon). Additionally, there is a connector for precision temperature sensors, allowing precise temperature compensation of the oxygen measurements.
REDFLASH technology from Pyro Science is based on the unique oxygen-sensitive REDFLASH dyes. In contrast to the old techniques using blue-light excitation, the REDFLASH dyes are excitable with orange-red light and show an oxygen-dependent luminescence in the near infrared (NIR). The REDFLASH technology impresses by its high precision, high reliability, low power consumption, low cross-sensitivity, and fast response times. The orange-red light excitation significantly reduces interferences caused by autofluorescence and reduces stress in biological systems. Further, the NIR detection technology significantly reduces interference with ambient light, known from the old blue-light techniques. All contactless and fiber-optic oxygen sensors from Pyro Science are based on the REDFLASH technology.
